Q&A

What inspired you to become a physician?

Call me an altruist, but service to humanity has long been my path to personal fulfillment and professional satisfaction, and ever since I started my career as a Medevac pilot in the US Army. After 10 years of flying helicopters, I felt the need to do more for my patients and to get more clinically involved in their care. I was inspired by my unit flight surgeon (military physician), who was also a pilot, and he became my medical mentor and is still my very good friend to this day. Thank you – Dr. Clark.

Why did you come to WorldClinic?

I have always desired to be part of “something bigger than myself.” Hence, I joined the active military after college. This taught me the true meaning of selfless service, teamwork, and “servant” leadership. Since then, I have always sought to join any team that embraces that ethos and strives to set the standards of excellence, thereby making a real difference in the lives of others. World Clinic is one such organization. Traditional, clinic-based, medical models require the patient to get to the doctor and are often constrained by time and cost avoidance. However, through modern technology, World Clinic‘s concierge healthcare model has revived the “house call” of yesteryear by bringing clinical medicine TO the patient (virtually); and adding back that personal touch to the practice of medicine.

What do you find most rewarding about being a physician?

Helping others to heal and optimize their health, and ultimately to “live their best lives.” Caring for a patient is professionally gratifying, but caring about them is personally fulfilling, at least for me.

What motivates you to do your best at work every day?

Knowing that others entrust their health and their very lives (as well as that of their loved ones) to my compassionate, clinical care. I consider it an honor and privilege to be in such a position of trust. I continually remind myself that caring FOR my patient is not always enough… I must also care ABOUT them.
